Life After the 9–5 on a Flower Farm

It’s hard to believe how much has happened in just a few short months.
Since leaving my 9–5 job to run Florals @ Jackson full-time, life has been anything but slow. From the outside, it may look like petals and pretty arrangements—but behind the scenes? It’s been nonstop.
Back-to-back events, sold-out market days, bouquet subscriptions flying out the door… this little flower farm has been blooming in every direction. And while it’s been beautiful, it’s also been a lot.
The Truth About Going Full-Time
When I walked away from my job, I didn’t have a backup plan, just a garden, a goal, and a whole lot of faith.
What’s happened since has been more than I could’ve imagined. Community support has shown up strong, especially at the farmers markets. Some of you come every week like clockwork, and it fills me up more than you know.
But running a flower farm full-time isn’t just about harvesting and arranging. It’s prepping, planting, selling, marketing, loading the car at sunrise, and praying the weather holds.
It’s a dream come true, but it’s still work.
Why October Looks a Little Different
After months of movement, I’m choosing rest on purpose this October.
There’s just one event on my calendar, and the rest of the month will be focused on:
Refreshing the garden beds
Prepping for spring (yes, already!)
Catching up on all the behind-the-scenes tasks
And most importantly soaking up time with my daughter before her wedding day arrives
I’m still accepting floral subscriptions (so don’t wait to grab your spot), but I’m also allowing myself the space to pause. Dahlias are coming. The soil needs to breathe. And honestly? So do I.

What Happens After the Markets End?
One thing I’ve loved most this season has been connecting with so many of you at the Kannapolis and Rotary Square Farmers Markets. You’ve cheered me on, shared stories, bought flowers on the hottest days—and made it all worth it.
Even as market season wraps up, that doesn’t mean we have to lose touch.

I want to keep blooming with you through fall, winter, and well into spring.
A Note from the Field
I used to think rest meant stepping away. Now I see it as part of the process.
Rest is how I refuel the mission. How I make space for new ideas, deeper roots, and better blooms. So, if things seem a little quieter on the surface this October—just know the garden’s still growing. I’m just building what’s next.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Thank you for cheering me on.
And thank you for choosing flowers that do more than sit in a vase. Around here, our blooms come with a story and I’m so glad you're a part of it.

With love,
Uletha
